Hip Hop Dance
Hip Hop is a broad category of dance usually performed with hip hop music that initially gained popularity in the 1980s when Hip Hop crews were showcased on Soul Train.
Within Hip Hop dance, there are several sub-styles, including Popping, Locking, Turfing, Floating, Electric Boogaloo, Krumping, Harlem Shake, Jerkin’, Robot/Mannequin, Liquids and Digits, Crip Walking, and Break Dancing (B-boying). But, Hip Hop is constantly evolving with new styles being invented.
Our Hip Hop dance classes incorporate upbeat rhythms, arm movements, isolations, and footwork, with high-energy movement and fun with unique choreography.
Your child or teen can join one of our many classes, developing their sense of movement, muscle strength, and confidence while building their Hip Hop dance skills and understanding.
What to Expect In Our Dance Studio
For 25 years, Susie Karlik’s Dance Sensation has taught Hip Hop dance to kids and teens of all ages in our Union, NJ dance studio. The studio has two large dance rooms with state-of-the-art sound systems. There is also a comfortable waiting area for parents.
We teach students of all skill levels, offering an inviting, friendly place for newcomers to take their first steps in Hip Hop dance, as well as elite classes for our older, experienced dancers, with many of our students placing in competitions and going on to join college-level dance teams.
