Ballet is a dance that requires grace, precision, and passion, depicting beautiful movements. It is a dance style that originated during the Italian Renaissance and has continued to be a foundation for other dance forms.
Ballet launched timeless pieces during the Romantic Movement of the 19th Century that continue to be loved and performed today. Creations, Giselle and La Sylphide, inspire new generations of ballerinas and cavaliers. While ballet continues to hold onto its classic principles, it allows for new interpretations and styles to be formed.
In the 20th century, neo-classical ballet was introduced as an expansion of the classical form. It stepped away from a storyline and instead emphasized human emotion through movements and music. Ballet today is multi-faceted, with both traditional and contemporary pieces gracing the stage in styles of classical, romantic, neoclassical, and modern. Ballet's vast expanse allows space for everyone to find enjoyment in the dance.

Students of Susie Karlik’s Sensation not only continue to place in competitions, but many extend their dance experience at a collegiate level.
