Maritza Barrios

Dance Instructor / Receptionist

Miss. Maritza Barrios has recieved extensive training and built her foundation of dance under the supervision of Miss Susie for over 10 years. Her caring demeanor has allowed her students to grasp the quality dance lessons that SKDS has been known to offer. With a dance background that is comprised of ballet, lyrical, tap, jazz, contemporary, pointe and hip hop, she has performed in Walt Disney World, on Royal Caribbean’s Explorer of the Seas cruise ship, as well as the NJ Nets half time show. Maritza is a licensed ZIN Zumba Instructor and has trained for various dance programs. She is also part of our "Dance Time is Fun Time" program, visiting preschools in our area to work with children 4 and under. Teaching them to learn through dance & creative movement. 

Graduated from Berkeley College for Interior Design, Maritza continues to strive for excellence on the dance floor while pursuing her career. Her love for dance shows through her commitment and dedication to all her students.

Kelsey Daubert

Dance Instructor

Miss Kelsey Daubert has received extensive training and built her foundation of dance under the supervision of Miss Susie for over 10 years.  In addition to her time at SKDS Kelsey also trained at Radio City Music Hall to better her dance education which includes ballet, lyrical, pointe, tap, jazz, contemporary, and hip hop.  As a member of the SKDS competition team, Kelsey has had the thrill associated with working hard and being a part of a team from a young age.  

Kelsey graduated from Kean University and is dual certified in elementary and special education. Along with teaching dance she currently works as an elementary school teacher in a nearby district. Kelsey combines her education background and passion for dance to provide the most effective dance instruction for all students.

Lois Englund

Dance Instrcutor

Lois Englund started dancing professionally at 14 in Ballet Etudes Repetory Co, and was performing in her first Broadway show, “Carousel,” by 17. She went on to have a long professional career on Broadway, TV, regional theatre and film, performing in over 16 Broadway shows and touring companies. Lois was recognized as a Broadway notable, especially in “Dancin,” “Cabaret,” “Showboat” and 

“A Chorus Line,” where she received acclaim for her portrayal of Val, the T & A girl with the pigtails.

Lois had the honor of working for Bob Fosse, Gwen Verdon, Michael Bennett, Ann Reinking, Hal Prince, Agnes DeMille, Margo Sappington, Gillian Lynne, Jacques D’Amboise and other recognized director/choreographers. After retiring from performing, she went on to directing professional productions such as: A Chorus Line, 

Desert Song, Street Scene, Cabaret, The New Yorkers, and has choreographed pieces for professional Ballet and Ballroom companies, and competitions. 

She also holds the world title as Theatre Arts Champion 2012 in the Ballroom competitive community. Lois was the dance and acting professor at NYU Tisch School of the Arts in the 90’s, and the Artistic Director of Musical Theatre Works Conservatory in NYC, before moving to NJ. Lois is passionate about passing on her knowledge of dance and musical theatre to the creative artist within each student. She delights in seeing students develop discipline, technique and artistic expression.

Andrea Bautista

Hip-Hop Instructor

A member of the SKDS family since its inception, Miss Andrea Bautista is trained in hip hop, ballet, lyrical, jazz, tap, broadway, contemporary, jazz, pop, and Zumba. She has received Susie Karlik’s Dance Sensation Dance of the Year award, as well as top overall high score awards for solo and group performances at many national competitions. “I love to dance because I love the way it makes me feel,” explains Andrea. “It's something I will never stop doing. I'm thankful I get to do what I love with the best people here at SKDS.”

Andrea is curently attending Eastwick College, studying in the Ocupational Therapy Assistant Program. She is a member of the Project D Dance Company and competes with them along the East Coast. She also teaches workshops and master classes. Andrea hopes to convey her love for dance with each of her students at SKDS.
